Join us on Sunday, August 6th, 2023 for two one-hour workshops and two freestyle rooms.

All currently booked dates are starting from 3pm on Sunday afternoon through to the evening
Evening timings 5pm till 9pm.
Most events are 2 room events, with two different styles of music and dance in each room.

2x workshops, each is 1hr in duration.

The duration of Workshop 1, is 1 hour, from 3pm to 4pm.

Workshop1: Musical interpretation: moving beyond the basics.
This is an extension to our workshop from the 2nd of July to develop further skills in your dance with expressive music.

This workshop is aimed at people with little or no experience in expressive dancing and will work as a stand-alone workshop.

Topics covered:

1. Breaks, create breaks within your movement of dance and stylize your interpretation at any point in time.
2. Extensions of dance....... changing form small movements then giving you time and space, to express the feeling and movement to the music.
3. If time permits.... How to dance with Constant speed of music, Variety of movement within a constant beet tunes, (Monotone tracks)

The duration of Workshop 2, is 1 hour, from 4pm to 5pm.

Workshop 2: An Introduction to Dips and Drops.

This workshop is aimed at people with no or little experience in dips and drops, but will also be good for experienced dancers too.

Topics covered:

1. Safety when preparing and executing drops and seducers.
2. A selection of drops and dips will be included in this workshop
3. various seducers
4. Plus if time permits a few extra moves too.

This workshop is aimed at beginners to drops and seducers, focusing on safety, style, and flair.

We will go through all the aspects of how to do a safe drop, with a view to control, posture, balance, and position. All of the drops will be from beginner’s moves to enable you to concentrate on the drop itself and styling of the move with a view of flash and style while keeping it safe and simple.

The Class will comprise of a discussion on where, when, and how to do a drop. The dangers and pitfalls, Timings, when is the best moment for a drop, and all with lots of styles, and eye-catching moves, and of course the WOW factor.

As you will know the moves, we have selected are basic moves, enabling you to work on the drop-in hand and add that little bite of pizzas and lots of good styling, We will also look at a musicality, with breaks and spot points for great effect.

This workshop is the first in a series of 4 workshops for the CJ’s master series of drops and seducers, the second workshop will be aimed at the drop’s novice and will take you beyond the basics, then the third workshop aimed at the advanced dancer, with breath-taking moves and gravity-defying drops with the flair of some aerials in for good measure. The fourth workshop will be called the Show stopper workshop aimed at people who wish to go for compaction moves.

CJ has been teaching drops and seducers for the last 20 years and has taught in many locations around the country, with a wealth of knowledge and experience he is one of the best drops teachers around on the circuit today, and he has been teaching modern jive for around 23 years. CJ has been guest teaching around the area for some of the local dance originations as a guest teacher, showing off his unique style and fun moves.

Pricing for 2x Workshops Info: each workshop is 1hr in duration: Starting at 3:00pm with doors open at 2:45pm and will then run through to 5:00pm,

Illumination Dance is a new concept for the Northampton area where we aim to play music which teases your inner dancer to come out.
You could be someone at any stage of your dancing that is no longer satisfied dancing with the mainstream music you hear regularly in modern jive.
You may be looking for something a little more chilled, lyrical or expressive, enabling you to dance more musically to what you hear.
You might want to fuse your modern jive with other styles, such as WCS, Tango, and Blues, letting you vary your mood throughout the evening.
You could even just be hoping to finish a dance and be able to say to your partner “wow I didn’t know I could dance like that”.
If any of these descriptions sound close then Illumination Dance is the place for you to come and dance. We welcome dancers that want to
