It's our Christmas party night Info on the night. Doors open at 7:30pm with dancing till 10:45pm, We will be having a shared table to keep in the traditions of Christmas.

• After the classes we will be running our normal expressive freestyle till the end of the evening which ends at 11:00pm

• Illumination Dance brings a different concept to dance for St Ives, Nr Cambridge area with this freestyle class night held on Monday nights.

• We also run regular freestyles. St Albans & Cambridge areas with our Illumination (Light) Expressive Freestyle.

• We aim to give our dancers a range of music, of a variety of genres and tempos, which teases out that more expressive dancer that is deep inside all of us. You could be someone, at any stage of your dancing, who is no longer satisfied dancing with the mainstream music you hear regularly in modern jive freestyles. • You might want to fuse your modern jive with other styles, such as WCS, Tango, and Blues, letting you vary your mood throughout the evening.

• You may be looking for music that is a little more chilled, or perhaps more lyrical or expressive, giving you the backdrop to dance more ‘musically’ to what you hear.

• You could even just be hoping to finish a dance and be able to say to your partner “Wow I didn’t know I could dance like that”. Quote from “Elliot Manley” In conclusion “Modern Blues” music consists mainly of gentle ballads and Modern Blues dance is a body-led form that has evolved from slow modern jive # while “Expressive” music can be big and dramatic with strong changes of pace and dynamics and the dances that go with it vary between intimate hold with tiny, subtle movements and big gestures where the dancers connect at a distance. The key difference is that Expressive dances tell a story. But “modern blues”, “expressive” and other dance styles can be smoothly blended if both partners understand the dance styles.
